An Aam Aadmi Celebration chief created a ruckus on the C Division police station in Amritsar on Sunday evening after the police arrested two individuals from the Gujjarpura on allegations of promoting crackers illegally.
Talbir Singh Gill and his supporters entered the police station and demanded the discharge of the arrested duo. They accused Station Home Officer Niraj Kumar of extorting cash from drug smugglers and legal networks and raised “Punjab Police Murdabad” slogans.
Gill alleged that the police have been demanding bribes from small-time shopkeepers to allow them to promote crackers throughout the competition season.
Identified for his aggressive nature, Gill used to carry sway over the police because the right-hand man of Bikram Singh Majithia when he was a minister. Gill joined the AAP earlier than the Lok Sabha elections earlier this yr.
