Congress MLA and Mumbai Congress president Varsha Gaikwad on Saturday wrote to the state’s chief electoral officer (CEO) , demanding motion in opposition to BJP chief and MLA Aashish Shelar for allegedly utilizing a time period ‘love jihad’.
“Maharashtra’s CEO had mentioned he shall be taking motion in opposition to the usage of phrases like ‘vote jihad’ because the mannequin code of conduct is now in power. On Wednesday, CEO S. Chockalingam had mentioned that giving communal overtones to voting patterns through the use of phrases like ‘vote jihad’ will likely be handled throughout the authorized framework. “The mannequin code of conduct got here into power yesterday. The BJP has been attributing the BJP’s poor present within the state to ‘vote jihad’ throughout Lok Sabha polls. In a letter to the CEO, dated October 19, Gaikwad mentioned BJP is attempting to create a divide within the society through the use of such phrases.
