US in negotiations with Taliban to swap People in Afghanistan for prisoner in Guantanamo

The Biden administration reportedly has been negotiating with the Taliban to swap three People being held in Afghanistan for a Guantanamo Bay prisoner who’s alleged to have been an in depth affiliate of Osama bin Laden. 

The talks, which have been ongoing since no less than July of final 12 months, contain exchanging suspected senior Al Qaeda aide Muhammad Rahim al Afghani for Americans George Glezmann, Ryan Corbett and Mahmoud Habibi, who have been detained in Afghanistan in 2022, in accordance with The Wall Avenue Journal. 

After the White Home proposed that swap in November, the Taliban counteroffered, asking for Rahim and two others in change for Glezmann and Corbett, the newspaper reported.
