A self-proclaimed non secular chief was booked for allegedly duping a footwear store proprietor of gold ornaments price Rs 2 lakh in Mumbai’s Nehru Nagar, police mentioned Monday.
In keeping with the 32-year-old store proprietor, the accused, recognized as Gopal Das Baba, promised to alleviate his monetary struggles by means of a ritual, on the pretext of which the latter stole his gold ornaments.
The complainant had identified Gopal Das Baba for over a decade because the accused often visited his store providing recommendation and the 32-year-old man used to provide him cash sometimes, police mentioned.
On November 18, Gopal Das Baba allegedly known as the complainant to his dwelling in Nehru Nagar, assuring him that he may resolve his issues. The accused provided to conduct a “vastu puja” to enhance the complainant’s fortunes.
Through the ritual, the “non secular chief” requested the complainant to convey his gold ornaments, which the latter wrapped in a crimson material and positioned in a delegated worship house.
Gopal Das Baba left the placement by the tip of the day with the gold ornaments saying that he would return them on November 19 after ending the ritual. In keeping with police, the accused returned on November 21 and gave the 32-year-old man the crimson material containing the ornaments, instructing him to unwrap it solely later that night time.
When the complainant opened the crimson material later, he discovered that the the ornaments have been changed with two betel nuts, wheat grains, and a chunk of paper. When the store proprietor tried to contact Gopal Das Baba, his telephone was switched off, the FIR mentioned.
Following this, on November 22, the 32-year-old man filed a grievance at Nehru Nagar police station, based mostly on which a case of dishonest was registered.
