The shortlist for the 2025 Ladies’s Prize for Fiction options six novels that discover themes of identification, transformation, love, and human connection. The record consists of a mixture of established authors and debut novelists, every providing a definite narrative voice and perspective.
The winner can be introduced on June 12 and can obtain a prize of £30,000 (roughly ₹31.5 lakh), together with a bronze statuette often known as “Bessie.”
The prize, established in 1996, is awarded yearly to a feminine creator of the most effective full-length novel written in English. Writer Equipment de Waal chaired the judging panel, which included novelist Diana Evans, journalist and creator Bryony Gordon, journal editor Deborah Joseph, and musician Amelia Warner.
“Our choice celebrates wealthy, multi-layered narratives that can shock, transfer, and delight the reader,” mentioned de Waal. “What’s shocking and refreshing is to see a lot humour, nuance, and lightness employed by these novelists to make clear difficult ideas.”
The six shortlisted novels are:

Essentially by Nussaibah Younis: Set in Iraq, Younis’s debut follows a girl assigned to rehabilitate girls affiliated with ISIS. The novel portrays an surprising friendship and explores political and emotional restoration with nuance and wit.
