Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Saturday nearly inaugurated 75 border infrastructure tasks price `2,236 crore throughout 11 states and Union Territories, the ministry stated. A majority of those Border Roads Organisation (BRO) tasks—22 roads and 51 bridges together with two different tasks — are positioned near the borders of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and the Northeast.
Of the 75 tasks, 19 are in J&Ok, 18 in Arunachal Pradesh, 11 in Ladakh, 9 in Uttarakhand, six in Sikkim, 5 in Himachal Pradesh, two every in West Bengal and Rajasthan and one every in Nagaland, Mizoram and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The spotlight was the inauguration of the Kupup-Sherathang Highway in Sikkim which serves as a vital hyperlink between Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg and Zuluk axis. As per the ministry, together with the inauguration of those 75 tasks, BRO has accomplished a complete of 111 infrastructure tasks in 2024 at an general price of Rs 3,751 crore.
In his tackle, the minister stated the tasks are a testomony to the Authorities’s unwavering resolve to maintain strengthening the border infrastructure and making certain socio-economic progress of those areas.
