Russian President Vladimir Putin has formally enacted a mutual defence treaty with North Korea, marking a major step within the two nations’ strategic partnership.
The accord, initially introduced in June following a summit in Pyongyang between Putin and North Korean chief Kim Jong Un, mandates that every nation will come to the opposite’s defence within the occasion of an armed assault.
A decree enacting the treaty was revealed on an official Russian legislative web site, confirming that the settlement has been ratified by the Russian parliament.
