During the last two years, Ambassador Jessica Lapenn has served with distinction because the inaugural U.S. Senior Coordinator for Atlantic Cooperation. In constructing the Partnership for Atlantic Cooperation, she has fostered a multilateral discussion board that acknowledges the cross-cutting nature of our greatest environmental and improvement challenges in addition to the potential of the Atlantic neighborhood to make progress on them collectively. Ambassador Lapenn has introduced collectively like-minded nations to collaborate on shared alternatives and to deal with frequent challenges. The USA has already deployed $10 million in new funds to bolster modern and collaborative Atlantic Partnership applications.
A dedicated multilateralist, Ambassador Lapenn retires after 30 years within the U.S. International Service, together with because the U.S. Ambassador to the African Union. I thank Jessye for her management, creativity, devoted public service, and enduring contribution to our Atlantic relationships.
Representing greater than 75 % of the Atlantic shoreline, Partnership members are pursuing joint endeavors that can resonate throughout the area. For the US, the Bureau of Oceans and Worldwide Environmental and Scientific Affairs and State Division Counselor Tom Sullivan will proceed to hold ahead this work, reflecting our high-level dedication to advancing a cooperative, affluent and sustainable Atlantic area.
