
A New Jersey Transit practice operator was killed and practically two dozen passengers have been injured Monday after a practice collided with a fallen tree on the tracks, officers say.Â
The deadly incident occurred round 6 a.m. on the River Line close to the Roebling station outdoors of Trenton.Â
“I’ve been briefed on an accident on the NJ Transit River Line earlier at present by which the sunshine rail struck a tree on the tracks, resulting in the demise of the practice operator and injuring passengers,” New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy wrote on X. Â
“An investigation is underway. Our prayers are with all affected by this tragic incident,” he added.Â

NJ Transit knowledgeable Fox Information Digital that “of the 42 prospects on board, 23 sustained non-life-threatening accidents, principally minor.”
“The practice operator is confirmed deceased. The remaining 19 passengers have been accommodated by a bus. New Jersey Transit Police are on scene and investigating,” a spokesperson added.Â

It’s presently unclear what brought about the tree to be on the tracks.Â
“River Line service continues to be suspended in each instructions between Trenton and Florence stations on account of downed bushes throughout the tracks close to Roebling. Substitute bus service is being offered,” NJ Transit wrote on X following the incident.Â
