The Pune police Wednesday booked Sunil Shelke, an MLA of the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationwide Congress Get together (NCP), for allegedly violating the election code of conduct whereas campaigning for the upcoming Maharashtra Meeting election.
Deepak Rakshe, an official from the flying squad of the Election Fee, lodged the First Info Report (FIR) in reference to the difficulty on the Shirgaon police station on Wednesday.
Shelke is the candidate for the Maval Meeting constituency within the Pune district.
The police mentioned Shelke’s marketing campaign rally continued even after the ten pm deadline, thereby inflicting a violation of the principles and situations laid down by the Election Fee. The rally was organised by Shelke’s supporters Namdev Dabhade from Shirgaon to Somatne Phata on Tuesday night.
The police booked Shelke and Dabhade underneath Part 223 (disobeying orders given by public servants) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
