
The Mumbai Metro Rail Company (MMRC) marked a milestone on Friday with the arrival of the trial practice at Cuffe Parade station, the ultimate vacation spot of first underground Metro line. This important step will facilitate endeavor additional trials main to coach operations by July 25.
Out of the overall 33.5 km stretch of Aqua Line, a 12.69 km part from Aarey JVLR to Bandra Kurla Advanced (BKC) has already began operation from October 7, 2024. Moreover, system trials for Section 2, overlaying the 9.77 km phase from Dharavi to Acharya Atrey Chowk in Worli has already commenced, connecting key stations. Arrival of trial practice at Cuffe Parade, overlaying a ten.99 km stretch from Acharya Atrey Chowk to Cuffe Parade marks a vital step towards the commissioning of Section 3.
With main works equivalent to Overhead Catenary System (OCS) and monitor set up accomplished, MMRC is now targeted on remaining system fitments, architectural finishes and street restoration, aiming for full operational readiness.
MMRC Managing Director Ashwini Bhide acknowledged, “Right this moment is a vital day for us as we transfer nearer to finishing one other difficult milestone.
