
The Mumbai police on Tuesday booked a 51-year-old man, who tore off pages from his passport to cover his journeys to Bangkok, on expenses of defrauding immigration officers.
The person was caught by immigration authorities on the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Worldwide Airport.
In response to the immigration officer — Rajiv Ranjan Kumar — who’s the complainant within the case, the accused passenger arrived on the immigration counter throughout early hours of Monday, and submitted his passport and boarding cross.
The immigration officer, whereas checking his passport, learnt that the passenger had arrived from Indonesia by way of Vietnam. Nevertheless, Kumar later found that the pages numbered- 17/18, 21/22, 23/24, 25/26 had been lacking from the passenger’s passport.
Following this, the officer then took the passenger to the wing commander for additional inquiry.
Throughout the wing commander’s inquiry into the lacking pages, the passenger revealed that he had visited Bangkok round a 12 months in the past, and had torn off pages of his passport to cover his journeys, in accordance with the FIR.
Within the FIR registered, Kumar acknowledged that this was a case of unlawful tampering of the passport, resulting in a criticism being filed in opposition to the passenger with the Sahar police station

The passenger has been booked beneath Sections 12 of Passports Act and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
