The Karnataka authorities has ordered a Legal Investigation Division (CID) probe into the alleged use of derogatory phrases by BJP legislator CT Ravi in opposition to Girls and Baby Improvement Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar.
House Minister G Parameshwara advised reporters in Hubballi Tuesday that the CID was ordered to confirm the reality within the allegations raised by the minister. “He (Ravi) is denying he has used the (derogatory) phrase. Nevertheless, the statements of different members of the Home are contradicting this. There are witnesses,” he stated.
Hebbalkar and Ravi acquired right into a heated trade on the ground of the Legislative Council on Thursday, the final day of the Winter Session, amid a short adjournment following protests over Union House Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr B R Ambedkar.
In the course of the incident, Ravi allegedly used a derogatory phrase in opposition to the minister. Quickly after, the MLC was confronted by Hebbalkar’s employees who objected to the phrase. A number of complaints had been filed over the incident, and Congress MLAs moved a privilege movement within the Legislative Council over the “insult” at Hebbalkar.
‘Situation a closed chapter’
On Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti terming the problem a ‘closed chapter’, Parameshwara stated that whereas the chairman will do his job, the police should carry out their responsibility.
In the meantime, Ravi has demanded that the government-ordered CID probe be monitored by a sitting decide as investigating officers may very well be manipulated with a lure of higher postings.
“Even when CID investigates the case, let it examine below a sitting decide. The report needs to be submitted to him… Even when a judicial probe is ordered, then he (the decide) received’t go examine personally. He’ll look into all circumstantial points. He received’t cover the information or manipulate it,” Ravi stated.
When investigators are below stress and so they “search for a posting at a very good place, then justice is denied,” he added.
