A Group D worker at a hospital was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor woman, who was present process therapy on the hospital in North 24 Parganas district, police mentioned on Friday.
The accused allegedly took the minor to a rest room on the pretext of a medical examination and touched her inappropriately, a police officer mentioned. The minor raised an alarm and the accused was nabbed, the officer added.
The officer in-charge of the native police station mentioned {that a} grievance has been filed and a case has been registered in opposition to the accused beneath the POCSO Act. The accused was produced in courtroom and despatched to police custody for seven days.
In response to sources, the minor was hospitalised a couple of days in the past after she fell sick with fever and vomiting and for the reason that subsequent day, the accused had been allegedly harassing her.
A gaggle of villagers blocked the roads and protested in entrance of the hospital on Friday morning. As a result of blockade, the site visitors was disrupted for almost half an hour. Later that evening, she was allegedly bodily abused by a cleansing staffer on the hospital. The accused was later arrested by the police.
