Expressing dissatisfaction with the continued police investigation into final 12 months’s gangrape case in Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas during which a Trinamool block president has been named as an accused, the Calcutta Excessive Courtroom on Wednesday ordered the formation of a Particular Investigation Staff (SIT) to probe the incident.
Justice Tirthankar Ghosh, who was listening to a petition filed by the girl complainant alleging police inaction, additionally ordered the SIT to submit a progress report of its investigation to the ACJM of Basirhat as soon as a month.
