Former Delhi College professor G N Saibaba handed away on Saturday. He was 57.
On March 5, he was acquitted by the Nagpur bench of the Bombay Excessive Courtroom, following his arrest on Might 9, 2014, in an alleged Maoist hyperlinks case. He was launched from jail on March 7.
A division bench of Justices Vinay Joshi and Valmiki SA Menezes put aside the life imprisonment sentence imposed on him and likewise acquitted 5 others accused within the case.
Whereas Saibaba, Mahesh Kariman Tirki, Hem Keshavdatta Mishra, Pandu Pora Narote and Prashant Rahi had been sentenced to life imprisonment, a sixth accused Vijay Tirki was sentenced to 10 years in jail by a particular court docket in 2017.
Saibaba was an English professor at Delhi College’s Ram Lal Anand School, which he had joined again in 2003. He was suspended by the school in 2014 after being arrested by the Maharashtra police for suspected Maoist hyperlinks.
