The Election Fee of India (ECI) is ready to announce the schedule for the Delhi Meeting elections on Tuesday.
The ECI will maintain a press convention at 2 pm to announce the elections, it acknowledged on Tuesday morning. The time period of the 70-member Delhi Meeting is ready to finish on February 23. In 2020, the elections have been introduced on January 6, polling was held on February 8, and votes have been counted on February 11.
The ECI’s announcement will deliver the Mannequin Code of Conduct into power. The ruling Aam Aadmi Get together (AAP) will probably be eyeing a hat-trick, having swept the 2015 and 2020 elections with 67 and 62 seats, respectively. The BJP, which was left with single digits within the final two assemblies, and the Congress, which was fully worn out after ruling Delhi for 15 years, will probably be contesting towards the incumbent AAP. Whereas the Congress and AAP contested the seven Lok Sabha seats of Delhi collectively in 2024, they’ll contest the Meeting polls individually.
Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is ready to face former West Delhi MP Parvesh Sahib Singh, the BJP’s candidate, and former Congress MP Sandeep Dikshit, son of the late Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, within the New Delhi constituency. Chief Minister Atishi will contest towards Alka Lamba of the Congress and former South Delhi BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri within the Kalkaji seat.
Simply over 1.55 crore electors are registered to vote in Delhi, together with 2.08 lakh first-time voters aged 18–19 years, in keeping with the electoral roll revealed by the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer on Monday.
