JUST FOUR days forward of the Delhi Meeting polls, seven sitting MLAs from the Aam Aadmi Celebration (AAP) resigned from the first membership of the celebration giving the identical causes: “rising corruption within the celebration” and “deviation from the values and ideas” on which the celebration was based.
All seven are outgoing MLAs and haven’t been given tickets this time.
The seven are Bhavna Gaur from Palam meeting constituency, Bhupinder Singh Joon from Bijwasan, Pawan Sharma from Adarsh Nagar, Madan Lal from Kasturba Nagar, Rajesh Rishi from Janakpuri, Rohit Kumar Mehrolia from Trilokpuri and Naresh Yadav from Mehrauli constituency.
Mehrauli’s Naresh Yadav was convicted and sentenced to a two-year time period in November by a Punjab courtroom within the 2016 Quran desecration case.
Whereas the AAP had introduced him as its candidate regardless of the conviction, it modified its thoughts in December and changed him with Mahender Chaudhary.
Kasturba Nagar MLA Madan Lal, who has been changed by Ramesh Pehelwan, stated, “I misplaced religion in Arvind Kejriwal and the celebration… The celebration which was shaped within the promise to wipe out corruption in Delhi immediately is committing corruption…We needed to resign someday… The seven of us mentioned amongst ourselves and determined to tender our resignation immediately as we thought it was the right time.”
He additionally stated that the seven of them are open to becoming a member of the BJP quickly.

“There isn’t any level in becoming a member of Congress… If the BJP invitations us with respect and honor, we might be part of,” he stated.

Lal, who has been with the celebration since its inception, in his resignation letter to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal wrote, “I hereby resign from the first membership of the AAP as I’ve misplaced religion in you and the celebration…”
Brushing away any considerations, a senior AAP chief, nonetheless, stated, “The celebration dropped these MLAs and others, together with senior members like Dilip Pandey, Ram Niwas Goel, resulting from elevated anti-incumbency.”

In 2024, former ministers Rajendra Pal Gautam, Kailash Gahlot and Raj Kumar Anand and Chhatarpur MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar stop the celebration, citing “rising corruption” or “departure from the celebration’s core values” as causes.
Gautam joined the Congress, whereas Anand, Gahlot and Tanwar joined the BJP and are contesting on celebration tickets from Karol Bagh, Bijwasan and Chhatarpur, respectively.
