
A draft laws for the welfare of gig and platform employees needs to be prepared by Might 1, Chief Minister of Telangana A Revanth Reddy instructed labour division officers Monday. The laws was one of many election guarantees of his Congress authorities.
Talking to officers of the labour division on the Telangana Secretariat, within the presence of his ministers, Reddy mentioned that the draft Invoice needs to be finalised by April 25 and up for session with stakeholders by Might 1.
Telangana has practically 4 lakh gig employees who work in meals supply, cabs and package deal deliveries throughout the state.
The Chief Minister’s Workplace mentioned that Revanth Reddy ordered officers to “search folks’s opinion on the draft invoice which goals to supply social safety to the Gig and Platform employees”. The draft Invoice needs to be finalised “solely after bearing in mind the ideas, suggestions and objections from the general public”, the CM instructed officers.
The CMO knowledgeable that the Revanth Reddy “instructed a number of modifications and additions within the draft Invoice for a brand new Act which supplies precedence to the welfare of the employees and ensures coordination and pleasant interplay between the businesses and aggregators”. The Chief Minister instructed the officers to make the draft Invoice and add it on-line to hunt public opinion.
“The officers have been requested to make essential preparations to enact the draft invoice on Might Day (Might 1) or the Worldwide Employees’ Day,” the CMO acknowledged.
The directions have been handed on at a particular assembly with gig employees, union representatives and senior officers of varied departments on the secretariat. Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Authorities Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, State Planning Board Vice Chairman Chinna Reddy, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Particular Chief Secretaries Rama krishna Rao, Jayesh Ranjan, Sanjay Kumar and senior officers of varied departments participated within the assembly. The officers briefed the CM about what’s included within the draft Invoice, which was already ready by the state’s labour division. The Invoice guarantees employees, welfare, job safety and insurance coverage.

The federal government had already issued orders on December 30, 2023 to supply accident insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh in case of loss of life of gig and platform employees.
