A U.S. Customs and Border Safety pilot was killed in a Monday helicopter crash close to the southern border in California, authorities mentioned.
The Eurocopter AS35 helicopter went down round 10:15 a.m. in a personal area close to Potrero, east of San Diego, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) informed Fox Information Digital.

A CBP Air and Marine Operations plane was on an unspecified border safety mission when it was concerned in an “aviation mishap,” a CBP spokesperson informed Fox Information Digital.
“Tragically, a CBP Air Interdiction Agent – the pilot and sole occupant of the plane – was pronounced deceased on the scene,” the spokesperson mentioned in a press release.

The pilot was not recognized.

Monday’s incident was the second time a helicopter has gone down in San Diego County this yr, Fox 5 reported.
