A day after a household filed a grievance towards a social media consumer for allegedly utilizing abusive language towards a girl whereas commenting on a video of their marriage ceremony get together arriving in a helicopter, the Bharuch native Crime Department arrested a 53-year-old man for alleged sexual harassment and insulting the modesty of a girl.
The accused, Piyushgiri alias Lalbhai Goswami, a resident of Kheda district, was booked beneath Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 75(1)(4) (making sexually colored remarks), 79 (phrase, gesture or act supposed to insult modesty of a girl) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to impress breach of peace) in addition to Sections of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, apart from the Info Expertise Act in an FIR lodged by the Bharuch Cyber Crime police station.
The arrest on Saturday comes after the household of the bride, accompanied by tribal chief Mahesh Vasava, submitted a memorandum to the District Collector and a written grievance to the Superintendent of Police in Bharuch.
It was alleged that Goswami had allegedly abused the sister of the bride by passing lewd feedback on the viral video of the helicopter marriage ceremony procession.
On February 16, Ajay Vasava from Kharchi village in Jhagadia taluka of Bharuch district had introduced his marriage ceremony procession to Nikora village in Bharuch taluka in a helicopter and took his bride, Vaishali, again to his village in the identical chopper.
The video of the groom’s entry in a helicopter in addition to the photographs along with his bride after the marriage, towards the backdrop of the helicopter, went viral on social media.
