Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Tuesday stated the ED has restored properties value over Rs 22,280 crore to the victims or rightful claimants beneath PMLA, including that the battle towards financial offenders will proceed unabated.
“On the PMLA, ED has efficiently restored properties valued not less than Rs 22,280 crore from main instances…we have now not left anybody, even when they fled the nation, we’ve gone after them. ED has collected this cash and returned to the banks. So it is very important recognise that we have now not left anyone (committing) financial offences. We’re after them. We shall be ensuring that cash, which has bought to return to banks, will return,” she stated.
She stated Rs 14,131.6 crore value of properties belonging to fugitive Vijay Mallya have been restored to public sector banks.
Within the Nirav Modi case, properties value Rs 1,052.58 crore had been restored to PSBs and personal banks. In Mehul Choksi case, properties value Rs 2,565.90 crore had been hooked up and shall be auctioned. Within the Nationwide Spot Change Ltd case, Rs 17.47 crore value properties had been restored to buyers who had been defrauded.
