Progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., was defeated in her bid to be the highest Democrat on the Home Oversight Committee, shedding to Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia.

“I thank my colleagues for his or her help and the arrogance they’ve positioned in me to guide Home Democrats on the Oversight Committee,” Connolly mentioned in an announcement.
