Sen. J.D. Vance, former President Donald Trump’s 2024 working mate, referred to Vice President Kamala Harris as “trash” throughout a speech on the eve of Election Day.
“The residents of this nation are usually not rubbish for wanting to have the ability to afford groceries and a pleasant place to stay. However in two days we’re gonna take out the trash in Washington D.C., and the trash’s identify is Kamala Harris,” Vance declared.
In a publish on X, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., opined, “Not too certain that Republicans going from calling Puerto Ricans rubbish to calling a lady rubbish is the whiz-bang political chess transfer they assume it’s.”

Comic Tony Hinchcliffe confronted criticism after cracking a joke by which he referred to Puerto Rico as “a floating island of rubbish.” He made the joke whereas talking at Trump’s rally at Madison Sq. Backyard.
President Joe Biden later sparked controversy when he mentioned, “The one rubbish I see floatin’ out there may be his supporters.”
Biden has instructed that he was characterizing Hinchcliffe’s feedback as rubbish.

“Earlier at the moment I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump’s supporters at his Madison Sq. Backyard rally as rubbish—which is the one phrase I can consider to explain it,” Biden mentioned in a publish on X. “His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That is all I meant to say. The feedback at that rally do not replicate who we’re as a nation.”
Harris mentioned that Biden had “clarified his feedback,” and that she opposes “any criticism of individuals primarily based on who they vote for.”
