The Pune metropolis police Thursday arrested gangster Rizwan alias Tipu Sattar Pathan, who was just lately seen hurling cash throughout a qawwali programme, underneath safety measure and likewise booked him in reference to an alleged case of extortion.
In accordance with the police, Tipu Pathan was taken underneath custody as a preventive motion, as per the provisions of Part 129 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and despatched to Yerwada Central Jail for 14 days.
A video of Tipu Pathan hurling cash whereas dancing with a bunch of males on the programme had gone viral on social media.
The police have additionally booked Pathan in an alleged case of extortion lodged by a girl from Hadapsar. In a press launch, the police said that Tipu Pathan and his brother Ejaz, residents of Sayyad Nagar in Hadapsar, allegedly tried to seize a bit of land from a girl on March 2.
Tipu, Ejaz, and eight others allegedly gathered on the complainant’s land illegally and threatened her to vacate it, mentioned the police. They allegedly demanded Rs 20 lakh if she wished her land again.
The girl has lodged a First Data Report (FIR) towards Tipu, Ejaz, and their aides on the Kalepadal Police Station, underneath BNS sections 308(2), 329(3), 351(2), 352, 189(1), 189(2), and 191(2). The police have arrested Ejaz on this case.
Rajkumar Shinde, Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone 5), mentioned Tipu and Ejaz are criminals on police information. Tipu has been booked up to now for critical offences like homicide, try and homicide, and extortion.
