San Diego Padres pitcher Cole Paplham was on the receiving finish of a 102-mph line drive to the pinnacle on Sunday in a spring coaching recreation towards the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The incident occurred within the backside of the eighth inning. Paplham threw a pitch to Dodgers infielder Aaron Bracho on a 2-0 rely. Bracho returned the pitch on to Paplham. He went down for a number of minutes earlier than he walked to a golf cart and took off the sector.

Padres supervisor Mike Shildt stated Paplham “appeared alert” as he tried to shake off the scary incident.
“Our prayers are with him,” Shildt stated, by way of MLB.com. “He was aware, appeared alert, knew the place he was. However clearly a scary factor. … He was clearly in some ache, and clearly when one thing like that occurs, somewhat bit rattled.”
Paplham has been within the Padres’ minor league system since 2023. He performed collegiate ball on the College of New Orleans after which participated within the MLB Draft League for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.

He has moved round from Single-A to Double-A ranges of minor league baseball. He had a 3.82 ERA and 11 strikeouts in eight appearances in 2024.
Paplham’s incident got here days after Dodgers pitcher Bobby Miller was struck within the face by a line drive.

Miller remains to be in concussion protocol as he recovers from the incident.
