
Escalating the political row between the Centre and Tamil Nadu over the Nationwide Training Coverage (NEP) 2020, Union Training Minister Dharmendra Pradhan wrote to Chief Minister M Okay Stalin on Friday stating that it was “inappropriate for the State to view NEP 2020 with a myopic imaginative and prescient and spin progressive training reforms into threats to maintain their political narratives”.
“The coverage doesn’t advocate the imposition of any language. Many non-BJP states have carried out the progressive insurance policies of NEP regardless of political variations. NEP 2020 goals to broaden the horizon, not slim them,” Pradhan wrote.
The letter comes amid a sequence of remarks over the previous week made by Stalin and Pradhan over Tamil Nadu’s opposition to facets of the NEP just like the three-language components underneath which faculty college students are taught three languages.
Whereas Pradhan has maintained that the three-language coverage ought to be adopted and Tamil Nadu must settle for the NEP “in letter and spirit”, Stalin reiterated that training stays within the concurrent record, and requested which article of the Structure mandates the three-language components. The DMK and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu have opposed the three-language components on the grounds that it seeks to “impose Hindi”. College college students in Tamil Nadu are taught two languages, Tamil and English.
In his letter, Pradhan wrote: “Tamil Nadu has all the time been a torchbearer of social and academic progress, pioneering a number of the most transformative reforms in India…nevertheless, the continued opposition to the NEP 2020 for political causes deprives college students, academics, and academic establishments in Tamil Nadu of the immense alternatives and assets that this coverage gives. With Tamil Nadu refusing to budge from its stance, the Centre has not launched funds to the state underneath Samagra Shiksha, a college training programme. On Thursday, Stalin wrote to the PM in search of his intervention to make sure the discharge of the funds with out linking it to NEP implementation.
