Amid the discord within the ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra over a number of the selections taken in the course of the tenure of the earlier authorities led by Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde, state Transport Minister and Sena chief Pratap Sarnaik has now blamed the previous regime for losses incurred by the state-run MSRTC.
Sarnaik was responding to a requirement to increase concessions by the Maharashtra State Street Transport Company (MSRTC) to journalists. Talking at a press convention in Dharashiv on Thursday, he mentioned, “Ladies and senior residents got concessions to journey. Fifty per cent low cost in buses for beloved sisters, free buses for senior residents… On account of this, the company is dropping Rs 3 crore on daily basis. The state of affairs has develop into like this as a consequence of this concession.”
“If we preserve giving such concessions to everybody, I feel will probably be troublesome to run the company, so I can’t think about this demand in the intervening time. MSRTC ought to attain each village. I’ll strive to make sure that our buses attain new areas,” he added.
The Eknath Shinde-led authorities’s resolution to increase concessions in MSRTC ticket charges for ladies and senior residents had raised eyebrows because the company had been operating on losses for years and was depending on state authorities help to pay salaries to its workers.
Earlier, the Maharashtra authorities had repeatedly denied that the scheme brought on losses to the company.
