Billionaire Elon Musk has clarified that he’s not taken with buying TikTok, the favored quick video platform which america has been making an attempt to ban on account of concern over its Chinese language proprietor ByteDance.
Musk, who’s main US President Donald Trump’s newly shaped Division of Authorities Effectivity (DOGE), made the feedback in late January throughout a summit hosted by The WELT Group which is part of the German media firm Axel Springer SE.
Amid rising uncertainty over TikTok’s future within the US, President Donald Trump had stated that he was open to Musk taking on the ByteDance-owned app if he needed to take action. To which, Musk responded within the summit that “I’ve not put in a bid for TikTok.”
Musk stated that he doesn’t use the social media app TikTok and isn’t even accustomed to the format of the app, including “I don’t have any plans for what I’d do if I had TikTok.”
Speaking about his earlier billion-dollar acquisition of X (previously referred to as Twitter) as uncommon, Musk stated “I’m not chomping on the bit to accumulate TikTok, I don’t purchase corporations usually, it’s fairly uncommon,” Reuters reported.
TikTok guardian ByteDance was given time till January to promote its US property or face a ban within the nation as lawmakers expressed considerations over safety of Americans as a result of firm’s base located in China and Beijing may compel the corporate to share the information of its US customers.
Nevertheless, Trump had signed an government order after taking workplace on January 20 to delay the enforcement of a ban. TikTok has about 170 million customers in America.
