Arkansas Razorbacks offensive lineman Fernando Carmona was ridiculed after video caught him stepping on the ankle of a Texas Tech participant in the course of the Liberty Bowl over the weekend.
Carmona broke his silence on the matter, apologizing for what transpired.
“I’d wish to apologize for my actions final Friday evening within the Liberty Bowl,” Carmona posted on X. “I let me feelings get away from me. I’ve nothing however respect for Texas Tech and the sport of soccer. I apologize to my staff and coaches. I’m not that sort of participant and can study from this.”

Many took exception to Carmona stepping on C.J. Baskerville’s ankle, and the thought it was completed deliberately was put on the market. Some even mentioned they wished him “banned perpetually” from the sport.
Carmona’s actions led to rapid ache for Baskerville. In the meantime, Carmona tried to play it off like he was serving to a teammate off the turf.
Baskerville accused Carmona of committing a “soiled” play.
“There’s no denying that Arkansas performed an awesome recreation final evening, I’m not taking that away from them. However #55 Fernando Carmona blatantly stepping on my ankle and urgent down on it on function is straight up soiled,” Baskerville wrote on X on Saturday.

This incident occurred in the course of the fourth quarter of the Razorbacks’ 39-26 win over the Crimson Raiders to win the bowl recreation.
