A Karnataka district classes courtroom Monday granted bail to distinguished Lingayat seer Shivamurthy Sharanaru, accused of sexually assaulting two minor ladies.
The 2nd further district and classes courtroom in Chitradurga granted the bail as the method of interrogating witnesses was over. The seer had been imprisoned since his arrest in September 2022.
Though the Karnataka Excessive Courtroom had granted him bail in November 2023, the choice was challenged within the Supreme Courtroom, which dominated that Sharanaru would solely be launched after the interrogation of 13 witnesses.
Following the granting of bail Monday, Basavaprabhu Swamy, the interim chief of the mutt headed by Sharanaru, mentioned they have been pleased that the seer was lastly launched from jail. “Because the seer is barred from getting into Chitradurga district (one of many circumstances of bail), he would keep in Davangere mutt and can proceed to contest the costs in opposition to him within the courtroom.”
