West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday mentioned she was shocked at Union House Minister Amit Shah’s current remarks about B R Ambedkar.
Banerjee was talking on the inauguration of the ‘Kolkata Christmas Competition’ at Allen Park in Park Avenue space.
“I’m shocked on the feedback made about Babasaheb Ambedkar,” she mentioned.
Banerjee had on Wednesday claimed that Shah’s remarks within the Rajya Sabha about B R Ambedkar have been a show of the BJP’s “casteist and anti-Dalit mindset”.
She had termed the remarks derogatory, claiming that these have been an insult to the tens of millions of people that look as much as Ambedkar for steering and inspiration.
“The masks has fallen! As Parliament displays on 75 wonderful years of the Structure, HM @AmitShah selected to TARNISH this event with DEROGATORY remarks towards Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, that too within the temple of Democracy,” she posted on X on Wednesday.
“This can be a show of BJP’s CASTEIST and ANTI-DALIT mindset. If that is how they behave after being diminished to 240 seats, think about the harm they might’ve inflicted if their dream of 400 seats had been realised. They’d have rewritten historical past to thoroughly erase Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions,” she alleged.
The CM reiterated that Ambedkar, the daddy of the Structure, deserved to be revered.
