HAMDEN, Conn. — Hip-hop artist Fatman Scoop, who collapsed onstage whereas performing in Connecticut final month, died of coronary heart illness, the state health worker’s workplace has decided.
The official reason behind demise for the performer, born Isaac Freeman III, was hypertensive and atherosclerotic heart problems, a spokesperson for the Connecticut health worker’s workplace stated Wednesday.
Fatman Scoop, 53, collapsed whereas performing in Hamden on Aug. 30 and was taken to a hospital.
His household stated afterward Instagram that “the world misplaced a radiant soul, a beacon on stage and in life.”
A New York Metropolis-born rapper and hype man, Fatman Scoop was identified for his single “Be Trustworthy,” which topped charts in Europe within the early 2000s, and for his contributions to hits by Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey and others.
