A 38-year-old land supplier was brutally murdered by a gaggle of assailants in broad daylight in Kolhewadi space of Sinhagad Highway on Wednesday afternoon. Police suspect that the homicide was the fallout of monetary dispute.
The deceased has been recognized as Satish Sudam Thopte, a resident of Sushila Park, Kolhewadi and a local of Khanapur. Thopte, who was concerned in land and actual property dealings, had been booked in a case of firing registered on the Haveli police station.
Police stated Thopte had facilitated a Rs 25 lakh mortgage for an house buy, and there have been disputes over unpaid instalments that led to his homicide.
A police officer stated the assailants reached Kolhewadi space and attacked Thopte with sharp weapons. They fled the scene, leaving Thopte critically injured. He was rushed to a personal hospital however was declared useless on arrival. A probe has been launched and police have launched a manhunt for the accused.
