Ludhiana drug smuggler Gurdeep Singh, alias Rano Sarpanch was on Tuesday detained below PITNDPS Act after Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Secretaty, Residence Affairs, Punjab, pronounced his detention below Part 3 of the Prevention of Illicit Visitors in Narcotic Medicine and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act on the advice of anti-drug Particular Activity Power (STF), Ludhiana Vary.
Following the detention order below PITNDPS Act, Gurdeep Singh, resident of Rano village in sub-division Payal of Ludhiana district, was transferred from Central Jail, Kapurthala, to Central Jail, Bathinda, stated police on Tuesday.
STF, Ludhiana Vary, had registered an FIR on October 29, 2020, below sections 21, 27, 27-A, 29 of the NDPS Act at STF Mohali police station, SAS Nagar district, towards Gurdeep Singh and different co- accused and had claimed a restoration of 31 kg and 418 gm heroin, 6 kg amphetamine, 2 kg chemical powder and 5 luxurious automobiles/autos.
Throughout investigation, it was discovered that Gurdeep Singh had hyperlinks with alleged worldwide smugglers, specifically Harminder Singh, alias Rommy Randhawa (extradited from Thailand), Rajan Sharma, Tanvir Bedi and Baljit Singh, alias Babbu Khera, stated police.
Aside from this, in FIR dated November 6, 2020, below sections 8, 18, 21, 23, 25, 27-A, 29 of the NDPS Act, 27, 30 of Arms Act, 171, 395, 419, 473 of IPC and 64 of Punjab Police Act, additionally registered at STF Mohali police station, there was a restoration of 5 kg and 792 gm heroin, 400 gm opium, 3 pistols (2 pistols .32 bore & 1 pistol 7.62 bore), 1 revolver .32 bore, 2 rifles, 12 luxurious automobiles, Rs 50,24,950 in money (drug cash), stated police.
Police stated that Gurdeep Singh’s moveable and immoveable properties price Rs 7.80 crore have been frozen by Competent Authority. Aside from these, there are seven extra FIRs below NDPS Act and different Acts registered towards Gurdeep Singh.
