Whilst residents have been grappling with poor air, dry leaves had been discovered to have been gathered and burnt early on Tuesday at Sector 23-24 level in Chandigarh.
Residents alleged that the sweepers clearing the rubbish collect the dry leaves at some extent to burn them.
On Tuesday, the air high quality index (AQI) at Sector 53 monitoring station recorded 228 micrograms per cubic metre, whereas these at Sector 22 and Sector 25 stations recorded 192 and 194 micrograms per cubic metre respectively — displaying that the air high quality is within the classes of ‘reasonably polluted’ and ‘poor’.
In the previous few days, the AQI had damaged all air pollution ranges with a studying of 400-plus within the index.
