
A court docket in Ambedkar Nagar district has rejected the closure report submitted by police in a three-year-old case of custodial loss of life through which eight policemen have been booked.
After listening to a protest utility filed by the brother of the deceased, difficult the police closure report, the court docket directed additional investigation into the loss of life of 36-year-old Zia-ud-din after he was detained at Akbarpur police station within the district.
“The household of the deceased had challenged the closure report by submitting a protest utility. After listening to the case, the court docket directed an extra investigation by an officer of Circle Officer rank,” stated Virendra Bahadur Singh, Station Home Officer of Akbarpur police station.
The case dates again to March 2021, when Zia-ud-din, a resident of a village in Azamgarh, was allegedly detained for questioning in a theft case.
Zia-ud-din’s household had alleged that he was picked up by the SWAT workforce on March 24, 2021, whereas on his option to a relative’s home. The household claimed he died of extreme police beating and his physique had eight seen harm marks. Zia-ud-din is survived by his spouse and two minor kids.
Police, then again, had initially dismissed the costs, and stated that alleged that Zia-ud-din was detained as he was needed in a case involving assault and theft in Ambedkar Nagar. Nonetheless, after protests, a homicide case was registered on March 25, 2021, in opposition to eight policemen, together with the in-charge of the SWAT workforce. In October 2022, the police filed a closing closure report within the court docket, citing lack of proof.
