A girl and her daughter have been arrested on Thursday for allegedly smuggling to Noida Indian flapshell turtles, which that they had caught from a river in Mathura.
Noida Deputy Commissioner of Police Ram Badan Singh recognized the ladies as Kamlesh alias Kannar and her daughter Jyoti, residents of Mathura. “Following a tip-off, we detained the ladies from Noida Sector 10 and seized 14 Indian flapshell turtles from them,” he added.
“The turtles are priced between Rs 1,000 and Rs 10,000. After they’re handled by vets, we are going to go away them of their habitat,” mentioned Singh, including that the 2 girls have been booked underneath the Wildlife Safety Act.
