Seven individuals have been arrested Friday for stripping bare and flogging a Dalit man in Chhattisgarh’s Sakti district, police stated.
In response to the police, a video confirmed a 21-year-old Dalit man being crushed up for allegedly being in a relationship with a minor, who belongs to an OBC caste group. The incident allegedly occurred within the early hours of April 9.
Police claimed the couple’s relationship is believed to have enraged her household.
The person sustained accidents on his left eye and physique and is presently being handled on the native hospital, police stated. Whereas the household didn’t file a police criticism, the viral video prompted the police to take suo motu cognizance, Sakti Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma stated.
The police have recognized the arrested individuals because the teenage woman’s father, brother, his buddy and three uncles. All seven have been booked for tried homicide, rioting and felony intimidation amongst different sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and provisions of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
